International Conference on Health Information Technology

21-23 November 2007 Berlin, Germany

Welcome to ICHIT 2007

Mark your calendars for preparing a contribution to the International Conference on Health Information Technology (ICHIT) that will be held 21-23 November, 2007 in Berlin, Germany.

VISION

Thorough use of Health Information Technology (HIT) provides a valid opportunity to enhance the effectiveness of national health systems, as well as to upgrade usability, mobility, comparability, and access to better levels of medical expertise for each individual. “The data shall move, not the patient!” Worldwide, hospitals, practices, pharmacies, and insurance organizations are enhancing their processes of interaction applying IT on various levels and in numerous forms. The effects of several bilateral, bi-sectoral, bi-institutional measures today result in HIT infrastructures and interoperations that often even “overrule” international standardization by the sheer fact of massive use. Though several national HIT projects have been started, there is way to go for integrated HIT infrastructures which provide homogenous services for mobile users.

SCOPE

Research has to provide top-level results for architecture, engineering, integration, organization, and unification of all these approaches in order to make HIT systems really collaborative. Health professionals, citizens, patients, governments, associations, and industrial providers are in need of the best scientific and strategic insight so that security, usability, and public acceptance can be achieved. Users, as well as decision makers, need to be sure that we can provide excellent research and best practices for future systems, like e.g. nation-wide personal health records established at acceptable costs in time. HIT infrastructure evolution has become a worldwide action pattern, with nations, regions, institutions, associations, and companies, great and small, established and emerging, all heading for leading positions and solutions. Breakthroughs and improvements in the practice of HIT development will depend essentially on progress in proposing fundamental HIT organizing and engineering research, as well as in an effective experience transfer. Thus, ICHIT 2007 is dedicated to inducing progress in practice, research, and experience exchange on the top R&D level, and to creating a mindset to enrich the numerous concurrent approaches.

Join us at ICHIT 2007 in Berlin for an experience that will combine an outstanding scientific event with a visit to the city and country that will be a driver for a highly experienced way of modernization and globalization in the 21st century.
